Art about the fragile connection between human and space

Dana Schumacher Ausstellung

I love the art of abstract painting, lots of colour on large canvases. Inspired by everything I experience. The recognizable desire to experiment with form, colour and technique gives me the opportunity to immerse myself into new dimensions and change my point of view. This ain´t no coincidence, but my free artistic attitude.

Dana Schuhmacher bei einer Ausstellung

About

Dana Schuhmacher is a german artista living and working in Hamburg, Germany. Drawing from personal experiences, travels and emotional states her practice explores the relationship between inner landscapes and the external world. Shaped by extended stays in diverse cultural and natural environments, her work reflect a sensitivity to place, movement, and transition, as well as to the contrasts between nature and urban life. Working primarily with large formats, Schuhmacher embraces an intuitive, process-driven approach in which experimentation with form, color, and material plays a central role. Rather than following a fixed aesthetic, her practice is guided by openness and responsiveness, allowing each work to evolve organically. This artistic attitude invites viewers to slow down, immerse themselves and momentarily shift their perspective. Travelling and close engagement with different cultures have fostered a strong awareness of environmental and social interconnectedness, which subtly informs her work. Nature remains a recurring source of inspiration, as an underlying presence that shapes atmosphere, rhythm and emotional depth. Schuhmachers work aim to create spaces of resonance: places where intuition, perception and quiet strength converge, encouraging a contemplative encounter between artwork and viewer.
